Leavenworth Summer Theater began as the vision of John and Susan Wagner and Bill Weis in 1994. That opening season was hampered by devastating fires in the Leavenworth area in addition to the normal first year struggles, and the theater suffered severe financial losses. The Wagners decided to give it one more try in the summer of 1995 with a production of The Sound of Music. A great cast, a terrific outdoor location, and the natural compatibility of the show with Leavenworth's Bavarian theme created a sensationally successful production. Today, Leavenworth Summer Theater is the largest theater between Seattle and Spokane, with more than 20,000 people expected for this year's productions. Auditions information is on website.
