5th Avenue Theatre annually produces 8 to 9 productions of musical revivals, bound-for-Broadway premieres, and traveling children’s musicals for schools. The 5th Avenue has premiered 14 new musicals, nine of which have gone to Broadway, and two of which have earned Tony Awards for Best Musical (Hairspray, 2003 and Memphis, 2010).
- The 5th Avenue Theatre’s extensive educational outreach programs include: The Adventure Musical Theatre Touring Company, The 5th Avenue High School Musical Theatre Awards, the Student Matinee Program, the Rising Star Project, Curtain Up! A Community Celebration of Musical Theater, and Spotlight Nights.
- 5th Avenue Theatre is looking for actors who can sing and/or dance.

- 5th Avenue Theatre casts mainstage musicals by invitation and through company general auditions. To audition, send an email message and include a headshot and resume with a letter of intent to attend the general auditions.
- 5th Avenue Theatre’s Adventure Musical Theatre Touring Company (AMT) performs for local K-8 schools and community centers. Usually, AMT shows are cast from the company general auditions; however, actors who sing and dance may send an email message and include a headshot and resume with a letter of intent to audition for AMT.

- Intern and child auditions are held on an as-needed basis.

Programming is integrated with traditional performing arts that define Native American culture, such as drumming, singing and storytelling. Since its inception in 1975, SCT has gained national and worldwide acclaim as a leading producer of professional theatre, educational programs and new work for young audiences. SCT is one of the 20 largest regional theatres in the country, and the second largest resident theatre for young audiences.
- SCT holds general auditions once a year in the spring; callbacks are held for individual shows. Audition dates are announced on the SCT, TPS, AEA, Playbill, Backstage, and Broadway World websites.
- To schedule an audition once dates are announced, send a hard copy of your headshot and resume to the above address, Attn: Casting. SCT does not accept electronic submissions for general auditions.
- Rehearsals run Tuesday-Sunday during the day. A typical performance week includes 11 performances; there are daytime shows Tuesday – Friday, selected evening shows Thursday and Friday nights, and four shows on the weekend.
- SCT operates under the TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) Contract with AEA. SCT pays performance premiums on top of weekly minimum salaries due to number of performances in a week.

Since 1999, Last Leaf Productions has produced and performed entertaining and/or educational touring productions for children and families.

Since its opening in October of 1999, SecondStory Repertory has offered a year-round season 3 to 4 contemporary and/or classic shows as well as 3 to 4 children’s theatre productions.
SecondStory’s Theater for Young Audiences series reaches grade school children ages 4 to 10.

Auditions are announced two month before a show’s opening on the SSR newsletter, the TPS website, www.seattleactor.com and social media. SecondStory holds general auditions in the spring and sometimes attends the TPS general auditions. Actors are paid a small stipend.

Studio East serves over 70,000 people annually with a comprehensive program of drama classes, theater arts camps, and Mainstage productions for children from ages 4 through 19. The organization also offers ArtReach, (a 6 week, after-school residency program), outreach classes, and homeschooling options. (See Chapter 4: Youth Theater: Youth Studios). Studio East produces 8-9 youth productions annually, all of which are audition and tuition based. Our school-year productions perform in our Mainstage theater in Kirkland, which seats 150 audience members, while our Summer Teen Musical performs at the 400-seat Kirkland Performance Center. Founded in 1998, StoryBook Theater presents four original musicals each season with adult actors (18+). SBT does not regularly attend the TPS Generals, instead we audition new actors in late spring. All rehearsals and performances are daytime—both weekdays and weekends. Though non-Equity, actors are paid a per performance fee and minimum wage for rehearsals. Actors may submit headshots and resumes via email to Susan Bardsley. You may also submit hard copies of your headshot and resume via mail.

Spokane Children’s Theatre produces 5 child friendly shows each year. Founded in 1972, Missoula Children’s Theatre dispatches teams of 2 actor-directors to all 50 states, 6 Canadian Provinces and 16 countries to conduct week long residencies with local children. The week begins with auditions/casting, continues with rehearsals and culminates in two performances of an hour long original musical. The touring program runs year-round. Actors are offered 12-month contracts (late May through the following May), Summer-only contracts (late May through the third week in August) and 5 month contracts (late December through the third week in May). Transportation during residency weeks and room and board are provided. MCT is non-union; first year tour actors receive a minimum of $350 per residency week completed.
