Founded in 1990, Bellevue Youth Theater is supported by The Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation and administered by the City of Bellevue Parks and Community Services. BYT presents 11 productions per year using young actors and adults. A wide range of classes, workshop and day camp programs are also offered.
The BYT is dedicated to providing opportunities for all young people in the theater, ages 8 to 19, or children under 8 with a parent or guardian present at all times. Persons with disabilities, families and older adults are encouraged to participate.

The Mount Baker Theatre building was originally completed in 1927, and stands today as a perfect example of the movie palaces of the 1920s and 30s. Performance spaces include the 1509 seat mainstage, the Harold and Irene Walton Theatre (a black-box performance space), and the Encore Room (an intimate space perfect for small performances). In June 2007 ,MBT debuted its first Summer Repertory Theatre series with a resident company in its history. In 2011 it began a Winter Series to follow up on the success of the Summer Series.
