Founded in 2007, playwrights come to Icicle Creek Center for a week of intensive workshopping with the support and help of a skilled team of theater professionals. The week ends with a presentation of the plays and feedback to the playwrights. The new plays then go to ACT in Seattle as part of ACTLab, where they receive feedback from Seattle audiences.

- Youth conservatory productions are for performers ages 8-20. Auditions are announced on the SST and TPS websites. Rehearsals run 1 weekday after-school and 1 weekend day, though more rehearsal time is added closer to the show opening. Performances run for 2 weekends in evenings.

Each summer since 1970, Portland Actors Ensemble presents 2 to 3 Shakespeare productions for free in Portland metro area (and surrounding environs) parks, colleges, museums, and wineries.

Rehearsals are 4 to 6 weeks and are, predominantly, on weekday evenings. Performances are presented Thursday through Saturday in the evenings with some performances held in the afternoon on Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day.
Portland Actors Ensemble is non-union and pays a minimum of $600.00 per run. PAE can arrange a Letter of Agreement contract for union members with enough advance notice.
